Boxing Day

Musu painted himself blue for Christmas so people would notice him. It worked.

Fatmata showed us her beaded hair.

This father told us he was taking care of the kids because the mother was gone to Makeni.

Mohamed found a bicycle rim to play with. He said he got his green outfit for Christmas.

Here's a lesson in Krio. The double-A battery on the left is a "finger" battery. The triple-A battery on the right is "finger-less".

Christmas 2013

Christmas party #2 for Freetown and Lumley Zones. This was hosted by Sahr Doe (Counselor in the mission presidency)

It was a BIG Christmas this year.

We could hardly wait to see what was in our Kinder Eggs.

 A motorcycle for Mike.

 With stickers.

 Marlene got a flower doll.

When you pull up the base the skirt closes around her like a flower bud.

 Small, but very fast ...............

 Christmas brunch with the couples.

Marlene's mountain man hash was a big hit. Kanzlers on the left and Ostlers on the right.

Burns on the left.

We'd like to be home for Christmas but they won't give us the key.

Charles is an expert mason from Accra.

Just when we started to hope we might see the completion of the new mission home they started remodeling ... again.

This Week

Working on steps from the office to the mission home.

This will be a rain capture tank at the new mission home. The rain water will be pumped up to the supply tanks.

No matter where you dig here you run into granite boulders.

Sat in the car forty-five minutes waiting for the cement truck to get out of the way so we could get to the mission office.

While we were waiting these boys came up to car and asked to have their picture taken.

This is the well where our neighbors down the hill from the mission home get their water.

New construction along our walking path.

 Preparing chop chop.

These kids were using the plastic buckets for drums. When they saw us they stopped and asked for a snap.

New construction along our route. They are set up to capture rain using a yellow bucket tied to the roof. What is really unusual here are the solar panels.
